  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1/4 cup relish
  • 6 hamburger buns, toasted and chopped
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté diced onions until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet; cook until browned (6-8 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  4. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and relish for the special sauce.
  5. Layer half of the toasted buns in the baking dish. Spoon half of the meat mixture over them followed by half of the special sauce. Top with pickles and one cup of shredded cheese.
  6. Repeat layering with remaining buns, meat mixture, sauce, pickles, and cheese on top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
