Description

Greek Easter Bunny Bread is a delightful, sweet bread shaped like a bunny, perfect for celebrating Easter with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 orange

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center; add melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and the foamy yeast mixture. Stir to combine into a shaggy dough.
  3. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into three pieces. Roll each piece into ropes and braid them into the shape of a bunny.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush with egg wash and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
