  • 1 packet taco seasoning (about 1 oz)
  • 6 cups sturdy tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink; drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and water per package instructions; stir in black beans if desired, letting simmer until thickened.
  4. Begin layering: spread half of the beef mixture in the baking dish, add half of the tortilla chips, then half of the cheese.
  5. Repeat with remaining beef mixture, tortilla chips, and finish with a generous layer of cheese on top.
