Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup milk, warm

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk flour and salt together.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: Stir melted butter and warm milk into the yeast mixture, then pour into the dry ingredients.
  4. Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let it rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (approximately 1 hour).
  6. Shape & bake: Punch down the dough, divide it into equal pieces, shape into rolls, place on a baking sheet, cover again for another 30 minutes. Bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
